Australia host New Zealand for a three-match ODI series ahead of the T20 World Cup to be played in October-November. The three ODIs will be played on September 6, 9 and 11 respectively. The Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns is the venue where the three matches will be played. The venues last hosted matches from Bangladesh’s maiden tour to Australia back in 2003.
Kane Williamson who returned back into the side in New Zealand’s last series against West Indies will lead the side. Aaron Finch who endured a tough home series against Zimbabwe will lead the Aussies. The top batters of their respective teams both the captains have struggled to score off-late. Finch scored 15, 1 and 5 in the three matches that Australia played against Zimbabwe.
New Zealand, on the other hand, played a T20I and ODI series against West Indies. The Kiwis won both the series by a margin of 21-1 with Williamson scoring 75 runs in the three T20I games and not scoring too many in the ODI series. All the eyes will be on the captains of the respective teams in this Trans-Tasman rivalry.
