Celtic’s first Champions League game in five years, manager Ange Postecoglou has overseen a remarkable rebuild during his relatively short time in charge thus far. A hugely popular figure in the east end of Glasgow, the Australian has vowed to take the game to the European champions, which should lead to an entertaining affair.
Madrid, meanwhile, don’t tend to start Champions League campaigns as strongly as they finish them. Still, they sit on maximum points in LaLiga and clearly have the quality to beat any team on their day, even if they are still heavily reliant on their cast of veterans. Celtic rightly so fancy their chances against any team at home, even the Champions League holders.
However, the gulf in talent is clear to see, even for the most ardent of Celtic fans, so even a point could be considered an achievement for the hosts. I don’t think they will even get that, unfortunately.

Real Madrid could make changes for the game, with Antonio Rudiger and Toni Kroos amoung those pushing to star. Aurelien Tchouameni, along with Rudiger, is in line for his Champions League bow after joining over the summer.
Celtic team news: Kyogo fit
Celtic have Kyogo Furuhashi available but Carl Starfelt is mising after their injuries in the derby, with the latter joining Yosuke Ideguchi on the treatment table.
Moritz Jenz should deputise in central defence, and Oliver Abildgaard could be handed a debut.
