Teen Arrested for Strangling and Stabbing Grandmother to Death

NAGOYA, Aug 25 (News On Japan) –
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Nagoya for allegedly attempting to kill his grandmother by strangling her with an electrical cord and stabbing her with a knife. The grandmother, who was 78 years old, was later confirmed dead.

According to the police, the suspect, an 18-year-old company employee living in Nagoya’s Nakagawa Ward, is accused of attacking his grandmother at around 9:30 a.m. on the 23rd of this month. The young man allegedly strangled his grandmother, who lived with him, and stabbed her in the chest with a knife.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the charges.

The grandmother was pronounced dead shortly after the attack.

The incident came to light when the suspect’s younger sister posted in a group chat on social media, stating, ‘My brother killed someone.’ A friend of the sister who saw the message reported it to the police just before 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd.

The police have since reclassified the case as murder and are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crime.
