Elderly couple ends lives over health issues

Hyderabad: Upset over alleged ill health, an elderly couple ended their lives by consuming unknown tablets at their house in Sri Sainagar Colony in Uppal. Police suspect due to health problems they took the extreme step.

The deceased persons identified as Duruvasula S.S.S, 60, a retired NTPC employee and his wife Duruvasula Jagadishwari, 54, a homemaker were found dead at their house on Tuesday night, according to Uppal police.

Their son, D. Sai Sushanth, and police broke open the main door as the couple was not responding to their son’s calls since December 5.

On Wednesday, Sushanth visited his parents’ home and grew suspicious after finding a foul smell coming from the locked room. He immediately informed the police who managed to force open the main door and found the decomposed bodies.

“Sushanth, an IT employee along with his family, had left for Delhi to attend an official seminar. Since December 5, he has been trying to contact his parents in the city but their mobiles were switched off,” the police added.

“We suspect that the couple might have consumed sleeping pills around three to four days back. We are making efforts to find the cause of death,” Uppal SHO Election Reddy said.

The bodies have been shifted to Gandhi hospital for postmortem, he added further.
