Watch: Harmanpreet Kaur’s one-handed catch that will put even Male cricketers to shame

The Indian women’s cricket team made a strong start to their three-match ODI series against West Indies Women by registering a dominant 211-run win over the tourists in the first game on Sunday, December 22, thanks to their solid all-round effort at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

One of the standout moments came in the 11th over of the West Indies chase, when India Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur left one and all amazed with her incredible fielding efforts in the three-match ODI series opener at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Harmanpreet Kaur stuns with spectacular one-handed catch as India Women cruise to 211-run win in the first ODI

Renuka Singh bowled a fuller-length delivery aimed at the stumps, which prompted Aaliyah Alleyne to take an ambitious swing and hit for a big shot. However, Harmanpreet Kaur, positioned at mid-on, was quick to take action and left everyone in awe of her.

As Aaliyah Alleyne, looking to clear the mid-on boundary, struck the ball cleanly with power, the India Women captain made a stunning one-handed catch, jumping high to reach the ball and pulling off a jaw-dropping one-handed catch to dismiss the West Indies star.

The ball was traveling fast, and Alleyne’s shot appeared to be heading for a boundary, but Harmanpreet Kaur’s athletic leap and perfectly timed reach allowed her to snatch the ball out of the air.

However, the way the India Women’s skipper controlled the ball in mid-air, preventing it from slipping out and turning a potential boundary into a spectacular moment was an impressive part of her efforts.

Her quick reflexes and athleticism were on full display, leaving fans and players in awe, as Aaliyah Alleyne was sent back to the dugout for just 13 runs off 23 balls in the first ODI match in Vadodara.

This match saw Harmanpreet make her return to action after missing the last two T20Is against West Indies due to a knee issue. She made an impactful comeback, scoring a quick 34 off just 23 balls before being run out, and helped India post a competitive total of 314/9 on the board in the first ODI against the West Indies Women at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Renuka Singh and Smriti Mandhana shine in India Women’s dominant win over West Indies in the first ODI

Earlier, India’s innings began with a bang, thanks to an impressive 110-run opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and debutant Prakiti Rawal. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana missed her century by just nine runs, but she was the top scorer for the hosts in the ongoing three-match ODI series opener against the West Indies.

Defending the target, India Women were strongly in the game from the start, as Renuka Singh’s five-wicket haul helped the hosts to restrict West Indies to a mere 123 runs to win the first ODI by 211 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Priya Mishra also snared two wickets in the match.
