Day After Chhattisgarh Operation, 2 Naxals Killed In Shootout In Jharkhand’s Bokaro


Security forces in Jharkhand on Wednesday, January 22, shot dead two suspected Naxals in Bokaro. The two naxals were shot dead by a joint team of the Jharkhand Police and 209 CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) Batallion during a search operation.

Preliminary investigations have identified the slain Naxals as Shanti (area commander) village Chatro, police station Khukhura, district Giridih and Manoj, village- Dhavatar, police station- Pirtad, district- Giridih, which is being further verified. Security personnel have intensified anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand for the past few days.

The operation was launched based on information from the Intelligence Bureau. The bodies of the two Naxals, an AK-47 rifle and two Insas rifles were recovered from them.

On Tuesday (21 January 2025), during an operation in West Singhbhum district, security personnel recovered more than 20 country-made IEDs and more than 50 gelatin sticks from the forest. A police officer had said that these IEDs were planted by suspected members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) to target security personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operations.

The district police have conducting extensive search operations for the past few months after receiving information about the presence of top Maoist leaders in the Kolhan region of West Singhbhum.

Naxals Killed In Chhattisgarh

In an ongoing operation against Naxals, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chhattisgarh’s SOG (Special Operations Group) and Odisha Police conducted a joint operation in the border area of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, killing 14 Naxalites. In this operation, security forces also killed Jayaram Chalpati, a Naxalite with a reward of Rs 1 crore. Over the past few days, at least 17 Naxals have been eliminated in Chhattisgarh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that Naxalism is taking its last breath due to the Centre’s resolve of a Naxal-free India and the combined efforts of security forces.
