Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reached Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, voicing his “eagerness” to take a dip at the Sangam Ghat and seek blessings from the saints at the Maha Kumbh Mela.

After arriving at Prayagraj, Amit Shah received a warm welcome from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with his cabinet ministers.

Calling Maha Kumbh a “unique symbol of Sanatan culture,” Shah, in a post on his official X handle, writes, “The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony.”

“I am eager to take a dip at Sangam and receive the blessings of saints at this great festival of unity and integrity in the holy city of Prayagraj,” he added.

After taking a dip at Triveni Sangam, Shah is slated to visit the Bade Hanuman temple and Abhayvat.

He will also visit Juna Akhara for a meeting and lunch with the sages. Following this, he will head to Guru Sharananand Ji’s Ashram to meet both Guru Sharananand Ji and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj. His itinerary includes a meeting with the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka. The visit will conclude with his departure for Delhi in the evening.

Since its commencement on January 13 with Paush Purnima, Maha Kumbh has attracted over 110 million devotees who have taken sacred baths at Prayagraj during the initial fortnight, according to reports on Sunday. The Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers, remains a significant spiritual destination for pilgrims seeking purification and moksha through the holy dip.
