Former WIPO director general expects China to strengthen technological leadership amid intensifying competition



 

While the arrival of the Year of the Snake ignites new hopes, Francis Gurry, former director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) warned of new challenges and risks ahead, during an exclusive interview with China News Network.

For one thing, the increasingly intense competition in technology will present new problems for countries worldwide, especially technological powerhouses.

For another, Gurry pointed out that technological monopolies and trade barriers impede international technological exchange and research. However, he is confident that China, as a responsible global technology leader, will rise to the challenge and strengthen its position at the forefront of technology.
