Two Maoists Hemla Bheema and Sodi Unga of outlawed CPI (Maoist) surrendering before OSD (Operations) Jagadeesh Adahalli at Rampachodavaram on Monday.

A 26-year-old Maoist, Hemla Bheema, Chhattisgarh’s Jegurugonda area committee member, and Odisha’s Kalahandi area committee member Sodi Unga, 25, of the outlawed entity, surrendered before Alluri Sitharama Raju district police on Monday.
Speaking to newsmen at a press conference here on Monday, ASR District Officer on Special Duty (Operations) Jagadeesh Adahalli said that the two Maoists have surrendered in Rampachodavaram.
A native of Millampally village of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh State, Mr. Bheema was inducted into the CPI (Maoist) by Madivi Joga, in-charge of 10th Platoon, Jegurugonda Area Committee in 2021.
Mr. Bheema had been groomed for six months by Loseti Ramesh, in-charge of South Bastar Division Committee before he was deployed to the Jegurugonda Area Committee. In January 2023, Mr. Bheema was involved in an ambush by around 200 Maoists and 60 militia members, that resulted in the death of six policemen at Kunderu near Jegurugonda.
In January 2024, three Maoists and one militia member were killed in an attack on the Dharmavaram CRPF camp, in which Mr. Bheema was involved along with around 900 Maoists. In the same month, Mr. Bheema was involved in an attack on Tekulaguda CRPF camp, in which six Jawans and three Moists were killed.
“In 2024 alone, Mr. Bheema had been involved in the killing of Madivi Erra, Arjun, Madakam Lakma by branding them as police informers in Chhattisgarh State”, said Mr. Jagadish. The exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces in December 2024 was Mr. Bheema’s last operation, in which a militia member was killed.
A native of Tadmetla village of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh State, Kalahandi Area Committee Member (ACM), Mr. Unga joined the CPI (Maoist) at 16. He was inducted into the CPI (Maoist) in May 2016 by Sodi Linge, Jegurugonda Area Commander.
He was trained in Chhattisgarh and was transferred to Odisha State Committee. He survived bullet injuries in an exchange of fire with the security forces in 2018 and went on to become ACM. In 2019, Mr. Unga took part in an exchange of fire in the Niyamgiri forest, in which two policemen were killed. It was his biggest operation.
Mr. Jagadeesh has said that ₹4 lakh of financial aid would be given to Mr. Unga and ₹ 1 lakh aid to Mr. Bheema to lead a peaceful life.
