
ED is conducting searches at 14 places throughout Chhattisgarh, together with the Bhilai residence of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in reference to a cash laundering case, ANI reported. The raids are being carried out beneath the Prevention of Cash Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED had earlier alleged that the Chhattisgarh liquor ‘rip-off’ precipitated a ‘huge loss’ to the state exchequer whereas producing over Rs 2,100 crore in illicit proceeds for beneficiaries of a liquor syndicate. A number of people, together with state authorities officers and businessmen, have been arrested within the case.
