A 37-year-old raise mechanic was killed when the rusted iron wire holding the raise snapped in a non-public resort in Teynampet on Wednesday (March 12, 2025). Two individuals have been arrested in reference to the incident.

The police stated the deceased Shyam Sundar, a resident of G.Okay.M. Colony in Jawahar Nagar, was dismantling the previous raise inside Hyatt Resort on Anna Salai close to Teynampet when the accident occurred. He was employed by a contractor named Abdul Khader, who was engaged within the buy of scrap supplies.

As Sundar and his co-worker Vinod have been at work, the iron wire holding the raise snapped and fell on him. Within the impression, the raise mechanic sustained accidents to his head and physique and died on the spot. 

The Teynampet police have despatched the physique to Authorities Omandurar hospital for postmortem examination. Khader and the chief engineer of the resort M. Kamaraj have been arrested, the police stated.
