New Delhi: The Central Board of Oblique Taxes and Customs, Division of Income, Ministry of Finance, has launched digital processing of Invoice of Entry/ Transport Invoice pertaining to gems and jewelry/samples/prototypes by means of private carriage by air passengers from 01.05.2025 onwards at specified airports.

A Ministry of Finance launch stated that the export/import by means of private carriage shall be topic to the provisions of International Commerce Coverage (FTP) 2023 and Handbook of Procedures (HBP), 2023.

The power of non-public carriage shall be out there, for export of gems and jewelry within the 9 airports (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur) laid out in para 4.87 of HBP and for import of gems and jewelry within the seven airports (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur) laid out in para 4.88 of HBP. In case of samples/prototypes of equipment, the power is initially being made out there in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai airports.

The harmonised process and digital processing will promote ease of doing enterprise for such mode of transaction particularly for gems and jewelry and high-end manufacturing, stated Ministry of Finance.
