Based on a latest report by Japanese media outlet Nikkei, main US PC producers corresponding to HP, Apple, and Dell have reportedly halted exports of their merchandise from mainland China to the US, because of the reciprocal tariff insurance policies imposed by the Trump administration. A supply at Foxconn’s Chengdu facility, which assembles Apple’s Macs and iPads, confirmed that exports to the US have been quickly suspended. Apple is alleged to be regularly shifting its export operations to different websites corresponding to India. In the meantime, a senior govt at Quanta’s Chongqing plant, which builds PCs for HP, stated the manufacturing unit “stopped exports to North America in early April, and the suspension could also be prolonged.” [Nikkei]
