Pak F-16 down, drone swarm assault foiled: Indian Akash, MRSAM, Zu-23 in motion

The Indian Air Drive (IAF) efficiently neutralised a large-scale drone and missile assault by Pakistan following India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor, leveraging a multi-tiered air defence community.

India’s air defence system shot down Pakistan’s F-16 plane after Islamabad launched assaults at a number of areas in Jammu and Punjab. India has possible knocked down Pakistan’s JF-17 jet as nicely, authorities sources stated.

The air defence community comprised the Akash, MRSAM, and Zu-23 methods.

The built-in grid, activated throughout 1,800 km of airspace, intercepted swarms of drones and missiles focusing on 15 army installations, together with bases in Jammu, Srinagar, Pathankot, and Bhuj.

Akash: Indigenous Medium-Vary Protect

The Akash missile system, developed domestically by DRDO, performed a pivotal position with its 45–70 km vary and talent to interact a number of threats concurrently.

Outfitted with a 60 kg high-explosive warhead and superior steering methods, the Akash-NG variant demonstrated its prowess against low-altitude drones and loitering munitions, reaching a 100% interception charge in current assessments.

Its mobility and digital counter-countermeasures (ECCM) ensured speedy deployment to battle zones, disrupting Pakistan’s drone swarms.

MRSAM: Lengthy-Vary Precision

The Medium-Vary Floor-to-Air Missile (MRSAM), a collaborative effort with Israel, supplied prolonged protection as much as 70–100 km.

Built-in with the IAF’s Built-in Air Command & Management System (IACCS), the network-centric MRSAM tracked and engaged high-speed targets like cruise missiles, complementing the Akash’s medium-range capabilities.

Its lively radar homing and vertical launch system enabled exact strikes towards evolving threats.

Zu-23: Shut-In Protection

For terminal interception, the IAF deployed Zu-23-2 twin-barreled anti-aircraft weapons, efficient at 2–3 km ranges.

These weapons, although older, supplied a cheap final layer of defence, shredding low-flying drones that breached outer missile layers.

The IAF’s Built-in Counter-UAS Grid fused radar information from IACCS with Akash, MRSAM, and Zu-23 deployments, enabling real-time menace prioritization.

Jamming and spoofing methods additional disrupted Pakistani drones’ navigation, rendering them ineffective. This layered strategy ensured no hostile asset breached Indian airspace, with particles of intercepted drones discovered throughout Jammu, Punjab, and Gujarat.

India had beforehand used the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra, acquired from Russia, to thwart earlier attacks from Pakistan in the day.

As tensions persist, India’s reliance on indigenous methods like Akash, coupled with strategic imports like MRSAM, underscores its functionality to dominate the aerial battleground whereas minimizing collateral harm.
