The police in western Assam’s Goalpara district arrested 5 individuals for allegedly throwing beef close to a Kali temple on Saturday (June 14, 2025) evening.
Goalpara adjoins Dhubri district, the place the top of a cow was discovered on two successive nights on the similar spot close to a Hanuman temple. The police have arrested 38 individuals in reference to the Dhubri incident.
“Lakhipur police of Goalpara district arrested the people for allegedly throwing beef close to a temple in a deliberate try to incite communal stress publish Eid-ul-Zuha,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X, sharing the names of the accused.
All of the accused are Muslims from the Khakilamari space of Lakhipur, about 175 km west of Guwahati.
The Chief Minister mentioned a case had been registered and strict motion was being taken to make sure all “such components” confronted the “full power of the regulation”.
The incident triggered outrage amongst locals, who demanded motion in opposition to the perpetrators of the crime.
