Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu): An issue has erupted on the famed Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram following allegations that the traditional golden and silver lizard plaques have been eliminated and changed with new ones.
In the course of the ongoing restoration works on the temple, the unique plaques—thought of sacred by devotees—have been allegedly changed, prompting a grievance from Rangaraja Narasimha of Srirangam. Performing on the grievance, the Idol Wing CID initiated an investigation.
