Kamala Harris sent the crowd into a frenzy with a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention on Monday to deliver a short tribute to the former nominee, President Joe Biden

The vice president gave a glowing thanks to her boss as the president prepares for a speech later in the evening ceremonially passing the torch to the next generation.

‘I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible President, Joe Biden, who will be speaking later tonight,’ the VP said after coming on stage earlier than Convention goers expected.

‘Joe – thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to this nation and for all you will continue to do,’ Harris continued. ‘We are forever grateful to you. Thank you, Joe.’

Vice President Kamala Harris arrives at the United Center on Monday

The Democratic candidate will deliver her remarks officially accepting the nomination on Thursday, which will wrap the Convention events.

Harris was all smiles as she arrived at the United Center just after 8:00 p.m.  following a hype-up video with Beyoncé’s anthem Freedom.

The vice president arrived in time to be in the audience during  President Joe Biden’s speech later in the evening, where he will ceremoniously pass the torch to his No. 2.

In her short remarks, the VP’s voice seemed raspy at times as she combatted a chanting and enthusiastic crowd at the United Center in West Chicago.

‘Looking out at everyone tonight, I see the beauty of our great nation,’ Harris said. ‘People from every corner of our country and every walk of life are here – united by our shared vision for the future of our country.’

‘And this November we will come together and declare with one voice as one people – we are moving forward with optimism, hope and faith, so guided by our love of country knowing we have so much more in common than separates us.’

‘Let us fight for the ideals we hold dear and let us always remember, when we fight, we win,’ she concluded before exiting the stage and taking a place in the arena.
