Update

6th over — Kim Garth steaming in for her third over

Michael Doyle profile image

Australia have had a few half-chances. Can they get the second Indian wicket?

Kim Garth comes in to bowl her third over and begins with a pair of dot balls.

Garth is getting nice movement in the air with the ball.

Indian batter Harleen Deol is trying to be proactive, but Garth is bowling well. A play and miss from Deol with cut shot.

The final ball of the over and Deol works it to the on-side and they take a quick single.

Alana King has a shot at the stump — MISS.

King had one stump to aim at and if she hit I think Deol would have been a goner.

Another half-chance missed.

5th over — Schutt contines

Megan Schutt comes in for her third over.

The first ball is a dot, and then we have a wide down the leg side.

DROPPED. Alana King has put down a diving effort at midwicket. Harleen Deol chipped a ball in her direction and King was stretched at full length to try and take the catch. King did get a hand on it, but couldn’t hold on. Deol gets a single.

Priya Punia plays and misses, then fends away the next two ball.

Punia then chips a ball over midwicket for two runs.

The final ball is a dot, with Australia’s infield stopping a nice cut-shot from Punia from heading to the boundary.

4th over — Kim Garth comes in for her second over

Kim Garth steams in for her second over.

The first ball hits the pads of Priya Punia — there is a half appeal from Australia, but it is turned down and India scurrys through for a leg bye.

EDGE! Is that a drop? The ball has gone through the slips and Harleen Deol gets two runs.

It’s hard to tell if that was a drop catch. The ball was falling and appeared to just make it to the slips. If it did carry, it would have been a difficult catch.

Garth follows up with a dot ball, and then a leg bye. Priya Punia faces the final ball of the over and it is a dot.

Plenty of excitement as the fourth over comes to an end.

3rd over continued …

We have one ball left in the over.

Harleen Deol comes to the crease and fends away the final ball of Schutt’s over.

AUSTRALIA TAKES THEIR FIRST WICKET

OUT. Smriti Mandhana is gone.

Megan Schutt had just come around the wicket and it worked immediately.

(AAP)

Smriti threw her bat at a wide delivery and caught a faint edge, which Beth Mooney caught behind.

A really poor shot — Smriti will be annoyed with herself after starting the over with a terrific drive to the boundary.

3rd over — Schutt continues for Australia

Megan Schutt comes in for her second over.

FOUR. Lovely drive from Smriti Mandhana who punched a full ball down to the long-on boundary.

Schutt follows with three dot ball.

2nd over — Kim Garth comes in to bowl

Michael Doyle profile image

Kim Garth gets her first over of the match and will bowl to Priya Punia.

First ball is a good one. It swings away from the right-handed Punia who plays and misses.

Garth follows up with a dot ball, and then another play-and-miss.  Nice shape from Garth, making Punia feel as if she has to play at the ball.

Garth has three more dot balls to finish with a maiden.

1st over —Megan Schutt comes in to bowl

Michael Doyle profile image

Megan Schutt has a fresh, shiny white cricket ball in her hand.

Priya Punia is going to face the first ball of the match.

The first ball swings in and Punia plays a cover driver for a single.

Smriti Mandhana, a left-hand batter fends her first delivery, then plays a drive to mid-off.

Another dot ball as the ball is swinging early for Schutt.

FOUR. A lovely cut shot from Smriti as Schutt drags her fifth delivery short and wide. That is a confidence-booster.

The final ball of the over is a dot ball.

Hoping for a better result than the last time Austalia and India played cricket
