Police officers of U.T. honoured at Republic Day celebrations for their meritorious service

Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan on Sunday honoured several police officers for their meritorious service at the Republic Day celebrations held on Beach Road here.

Among those felicitated was Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Crime and Intelligence, Narra Chaitanya. The Lt. Governor gave away the Union Home Minister’s Police Award for best services for Senior Superintendent of Police to Mr. Chaitanya for his investigation into an online job racket, which had inter-State ramifications.

The Lt. Governor handed over the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service to Inspectors of Police, Duggudurthy Suresh Babu, Angavalappil Pankajakshan and Special Grade Sub-Inspector of Police Shanmugam Chandrasekaran.

The Union Home Minister’s Police Medal for meritorious service was given to Special Grade Head Constables Ramalingam Cannan, Somasundaram Nadamani and Lt. Governor’s Police Medal for meritorious service to Sub Inspector J.T. Alexius Kalery and Special Grade Assistant Sub Inspector N. Prema.

The Kottucherry Police Station received the citation for the Best Police Station Award by Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr. Kailashnathan also distributed Chief Minister’s and Education Minister’s Rolling Trophies for outstanding performance in school final examinations to 26 schools in Puducherry.
