Visakhapatnam: The Pocso court in Vizianagaram sentenced a 26-year-old man to one year of imprisonment for sexual assault on a minor girl. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict V. Ramakrishna. The police said Ramakrishna, a native of S Kota mandal, allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl in 2019. The court found the accused guilty and convicted him.

Murder accused arrested

The Vizianagaram district police arrested Y. Satyanarayana for allegedly murdering his wife, Gowri. It may be recalled that Gowri (41) was found dead in a pool of blood with her throat slit on the outskirts of Gutchimi village of Dattirajeru mandal in the district on February 6. The police said Satyanarayana suspected his wife of fidelity and allegedly murdered her by slitting her throat and stabbing her with a sickle.
