‘Unverified And Doubtful’: MEA Rejects UK Report Accusing India Of ‘Transnational Repression’


India on Friday rejected the British parliamentary committee report, which named India amongst nations that have interaction in “transnational repression” actions in the UK, calling the allegations “baseless”.

An announcement by the Ministry of Exterior Affairs acknowledged that the references to India within the UK Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights report on July 30 have stemmed from “unverified and doubtful sources,” that are linked to “anti-India hostility”.

“We’ve got seen the references to India within the report and categorically reject these baseless allegations. These claims stem from unverified and doubtful sources, predominantly linked to proscribed entities and people with a transparent, documented historical past of anti-India hostility,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal mentioned in an announcement.

The report accused these nations of “systematic misuse” of worldwide police techniques like Interpol.

Among the particulars cited within the report concerning India had been supplied by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a pro-Khalistan organisation banned in India below the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, and several other different UK-based Sikh teams.
