A grievance has been lodged towards United Democratic Entrance (UDF) candidate Shaiji Ottappally within the Kanhangad Meeting constituency in Kasaragod, Kerala, alleging that he sought votes by invoking faith in the course of the ongoing election marketing campaign.
In accordance with the grievance, the incident occurred on March 22 when the candidate visited the Rajapuram Holy Household Forane Church. It’s alleged that whereas canvassing for votes, he made references to faith and group, in violation of the Mannequin Code of Conduct. The complainant additionally claimed that visuals associated to the incident are circulating on social media.

The grievance was submitted to the Returning Officer by V.Ok. Rajan, chief agent of Left Democratic Entrance (LDF) candidate Govindan Palliakkapil. The petition alleges a breach of the Mannequin Code of Conduct and seeks an inquiry into the matter. Following the grievance, election authorities have sought a report on the incident. Additional motion is predicted after the completion of the inquiry.
