This picture taken from a video exhibits one of many first tsunami waves hitting the  coastal space of Severo-Kurilsk at Paramushir island, in Russia’s Kuril Islands, that are within the far east of the nation (east even of Japan and near the place the earthquake struck).

Ports on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula flooded as residents fled inland.
