An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Gujarat’s Kutch district early Saturday, triggering panic amongst residents. No accidents or property harm had been reported, officers acknowledged. 

The earthquake occurred simply days earlier than the 2001 Kutch earthquake anniversary, which claimed 1000’s of lives. 

In response to the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Analysis (ISR), the tremor occurred at 1:22 a.m., with its epicentre situated roughly 55 kilometres north-northeast of Khavda in Kutch district.

A district catastrophe administration official confirmed that there have been no experiences of casualties or harm to buildings, PTI reported.

Kutch falls inside a “very excessive threat” seismic zone, the place low-intensity earthquakes are a frequent incidence.

The area was beforehand devastated by a large earthquake on January 26, 2001.
